VOBA Cato Hill Hunt
Summary of remaining 3 hunts of 2011
(The VA State 2 Day, The 1st VFBA Hunt of the New Season, and The Southeastern 2 Day)
Due to a busy trial schedule, preparation for hunting the upcoming hunting season, and being just slam busy with work and home life…we have not updated the website with the last 3 hunts Heat on the Meat Kennels attended in 2011. But, let there be no mistake, the last 3 hunts of the year were some of the best of this year’s trial season. Heat on the Meat Kennels was fortunate enough to place at least one dog in the top 5 in each of these three hunts. The first of the three hunts was the VA State 2 day held at Billy Pooles big pen in Emporia, VA. There were 117 dogs in attendance running both foxes and the occasional black bear for 2 straight days of intense running. | ![]() |
When it was all said and done, Billy and Holly had a stellar showing on the female side placing Magic 5th, their new puppy Lilly 4th, and Doelicious in 3rd. They also had a great showing on the bench winning the female side with Lilly. Others to be noted were Shane Parrish (Sallee Creek Kennels) who placed Reese in 2nd, Austin Author who won the female side with Missy, and Soul Train who won the male side with Beetlejuice.

![]() | At the 1st Hunt of the New VFBA Season held at Mark Roses Fox Pen, Heat on the Meat Kennels finally reached the pinnacle of their field trialing by winning both the female side with Magic, and the male side with their new puppy Houdini! Houdini also took home classiest hound. Doelicous placed 8th on the female side, and Lilly placed 11th finishing out what will go down as the best day of field trialing our kennel has ever had up to this point. The final trial of the season we attended was down in Lancaster, SC at Big Rock Fox Pen where we ran against the best of the best from the Southeastern Foxbeagle Association. This was another 2 day hunt where the running was extremely fast pace and hardcore. I can honestly say this…I have never seen a coyote pen run at the pace that this pen does. It takes a fast dog with lots of grit to make it through 2 days of running in this pen. Fortunately, we were able to at least take home one top 5 trophy with placing DoeLicous in 5th place. We did extremely well on the bench winning both the female side and the male side with Houdini and Lilly and took home best in show with Houdini. I got a feeling that this will not be the last time you will hear those names on both the speed and drive side and the bench side of things. We look forward to trial season coming back around in 2010 with the opener at Cato Hill on Jan. 14th for the 1st VOBA hunt of the year and the following weekend at Tower Hill for the 2nd hunt of the VFBA season. Until then, keep em safe during hunting season and we hope everyone has a great holiday season. ~ Billy
